Numerous European organisations have contributed through code intercomparisons and through pre-test and post-test analysis to the validation of LWR severe accident computer codes against the experimental results of the integral test programme Phebus FP. This paper reports those studies supported by the RCA/Source Term programme, and attempts to summarise the conclusions reached. The results appearing to require further analytical and experimental investigation are tentatively identified, and seem mostly associated with the chemistry of the complex mixture of elements released from the degrading bundle in Phebus.
