Abstract

Cross sections (cs) of the boron-10(alpha, p(0))carbon-13, the boron-10(alpha, p(1))carbon-13 and the boron-11(alpha, p(0))carbon-14 reactions for nuclear reaction analysis (NRA) applications were measured for alpha-particle energies between 4 and 5 MeV and a laboratory scattering angle of 135 degrees at the 7 MV Van de Graaff accelerator by irradiation of enriched boron-10 and natural boron targets. Absolute cs-values were derived by using the simultaneously measured Rutherford backscattering spectrometry (RBS) spectra of the alpha-projectiles on the tantalum backings of the boron samples. The cs-errors are less than 10%.
