A waste management strategy is proposed for Internation Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) materials, analyzing recycling (re-use of the waste material after suppression of noxious radionuclides) and clearance (declassification to non-active waste) procedures.

These analyses mostly cover radiological aspects. This strategy has been assumed previously as an alternative option in waste management of power reactors (safety and environmental assessment of fusion power (SEAFP) assessments), obtaining good results. here new features are included, in particular concerning revised values of clearance limits. The results show that recycling and clearance may dramatically reduce the waste amounts of ITER. .
