Thermal and Power Modelling of the Photovoltaic Facade on the ELSA building, Ispra
A modelling and experimental study of photovoltaic (PV) panels, based on the ELSA building, Ispra, Italy has been carried out. In order to calibrate the model, created using the simulation program ESP-r, detailed experiments are underway on the PV modules mounted on a PASLINK test cell at Ispra. Preliminary results from a separate, but related, project show that the combined heat and power efficiency can be 3 to 4 times greater than the power efficiency only. This paper outlines the method being applied to quantify the potential combined efficiency in detail.
