Guidelines for the Assessment of Photovoltaic Plants : Document C : Initial and Periodic Tests on PV Plants
This document sets out recommendations for carrying out initial and periodic tests and inspections in the field on photovoltaic (PV) arrays, inverters and batteries. The information obtained from such tests plus the data from systematic monitoring permits the technical performance of a PV plant to be assessed. The recommended procedure for carrying out initial and periodic electrical tests on PV arrays is set out. The special equipment needed for such testing is listed and guidance is given on procedure. A check list of points to be covered when carrying out annual inspections of modules in a PV array is given. The most important on site monitoring techniques relating to power conditions equipment are described, with particular reference to direct current to alternating current inverters. Lead acid batteries are considered and test procedures which can be implemented during short visits to plants using a minimum of specialised equipment are described.
