Abstract

This document reviews the present situation concerning microgravity research and considers whether a renewed interest in such research is justifiable. It considers the future commercialization of microgravity, maintaining that microgravity research is a necessary investment in Europe's future and postulating a common European effort as being the most feasible and cost effective approach. Steps are suggested towards the implementation of a community supported industrial policy in the field of microgravity.
Potential markets are identified and market related problems, budget requirements and supplementary actions (such as establishment of a legal framework) considered.
