Community Research and Development Information Service - CORDIS

This publication contains volumes twelve and thirteen of the Future of Industry in Europe series. Volume twelve focuses on agriculture and food processing as key European industries. Food processing is characterised by its heterogeneity, with subsectors distinguished in terms of products, technology and markets. Small and medium sized enterprises are already important in the industry and are likely to become more so as niche markets are exploited in response to increasingly diverse and sophisticated consumer tastes. Volume thirteen contains information on the financial services sector. The analysis of the structure takes place in several dimensions: function, type of ownership, specialisation, and the role of state ownership.
