Abstract

This final report on COST action 8.10 concentrates on the role of vesicular arbuscular mycorrhizas in the transformation of matter in the soil and their importance for plant nutrition and plant health. The main objectives were: to elucidate the complex interactions between mycorrhizal fungi/soil system and plant roots, in relation to soil organic matter and phosphorus and nitrogen translocation from the soil to the plant; to make progress in understanding the function of arbuscular mycorrhizas; to investigate the relationship between arbuscular mycorrhizas and other soil microorganisms; to promote their use in plant production, especially micropropagated plants.
