Community Research and Development Information Service - CORDIS

The COST framework has proved to be suitable for several types of research work. In most cases it is used to coordinate, at European level, existing or proposed research programmes, in such general fields as: research on topics of international interest such as oceanography, environmental protection, meteorology; R&D appealing to a greater or lesser extent to all European countries, both individually and jointly, such as dataprocessing, information technology, advanced materials, agriculture and food technologies; adaption of the various standards and specifications among European countries in order to achieve the most widespread uniformity in the telecommunications and transport sectors.
