Management of R&D activities within the ECFunded under: FP3-VALUE 2
One of the subtopics of Interface II is the study of the management of research; the objective is to understand and analyse how R&D efforts are managed within the R&D community and to develop and promote best practice guidelines. The research reported in this study has been divided into five phases: (i) defining the most popular managerial methods in the EC; (ii) a literature review concerning these issues in the USA and Japan; (iii) a review of business cases; (iv) the preparation of several small descriptive cases; (v) investigation of the differences between literature interests and day-by-day applications of technicalities. Finally areas of strength (costing, sizing, communication) and weakness (university/industry cooperation, R&D planning and control, efficiency) are identified.
