This brochure is intended as a practical guide to planning for the commercial exploitation of research results. There are four major sections: an introduction, a theoretical and practical guide to the drawing up of a business plan, a case study to illustrate the theory, and a list of information sources. The section on theory and practice sets forth the key aspects of a plan: project synthesis; market; product, process or invention; commercial situation; marketing strategy; manufacture; forecasts of sales, cash-flow and break-even; control and monitoring of the enterprise; finance. For each of these key aspects a check list of essential elements for inclusion in the plan is provided.
