Combination of the Normalised Difference Vegetation Index and Surface Temperature for Regional Scale European Land Cover Mapping Using AVHRR Data
Forest/nonforest and urban/nonurban class separabilities extracted from cloud screened European advanced very high resolution radiometer (AVHRR) laser assisted collision (LAC) data indicate that combination of surface temperature (TS) and the normalised difference vegetation index (NDVI) gives improved classification accuracies over using TS or NDVI data independently.
