Abstract

Following the first boronization of the TCV vacuum vessel, a clear H-mode transition has been observed with Single-Null (SN), Double-Null (DN) and highly elongated limited magnetic configurations using ohmic heating only. A brief description of the general character of the H-mode transition in TCV is given and the paper reports on the behaviour of the density threshold for this transition. Whilst there is some early evidence for a dependence of the transition threshold on magnetic configuration, notably the plasma triangularity, there are strong indications that the threshold density is dominated by local recycling conditions.
