The TCV tokamak has recently been equipped with an ultrasoft X-ray multichromator allowing low resolution measurements in the energy range 200-800 eV. Its purpose is to monitor emission from the main resonance lines of highly ionized light impurities such as boron, carbon and oxygen. Wavelength selectivity is achieved by synthetic multilayer mirrors (MLM) having 30-40 alternate layers with layer periods in the range 30 to 70 angstroms depending on the wavelength range to be investigated.
