Economy-Energy-Environment Models (JOULE II Programme)Funded under: FP3-JOULE 2
The JOULE II Programme addresses the complex interactions between the processes of energy production and consumption, the economy and the environment. Energy-environment-economy models developed during JOULE I and JOULE II cover the major aspects of energy problems. The following models are described in this publication. GEM-E3 covers interactions between the economy, the energy system and the environment at the level of the Community member States. E3-ME is a sectoral model, representing the economy 25 end-use sectors. WARM is designed to study the processes of integration and convergence of European economies, to analyze the commercial flows within and outside the EU and to assess the effects of energy-related environmental policies; MEGAPESTES assessed the influence of environmental quality on the households behaviour and the disaggregation of each production sector in 'green' and 'non-green' industries; POLES it is designed to simulate and analyze different strategies for energy conservation and CO(2) reduction. PRIMES covers the European energy system and market, including environmental applications designed to provide a representation of power and gas networks in Europe. SAFIRE assesses the first order impacts of new energy technologies on the economy.
