Pseudodynamic Testing of Large-Scale Models of Reinforced Concrete Structures at the ELSA Reaction Wall
The paper presents a summarized account of the testing activity at large scale performed in the new ELSA reaction-wall facility of the Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the European Commission at Ispra for assessing the seismic performance of reinforced concrete structures designed according to Eurocode 8. Supporting studies on dynamic properties of plain concrete are also briefly described. Such studies make use of a bundle of Hopkinson bars installed in the Large Dynamic Test Facility (LDTF) of the JRC which allows testing of large concrete specimens with real-size aggregates.
