Abstract

The simple method proposed by Isichenko (M.B. Isichenko, Plasma Physics and Controlled Fusion, 33 (1991) 795-807) was used for studying the particle diffusion in a stochastic time-dependent magnetic perturbation (characterized by a coherence time tau(C) of 1/omega) superimposed on a constant uniform magnetic field B(0) (shearless slab). Here decorrelation between the particle and the magnetic line is caused by the non-stationary of the magnetic perturbation, it occurs after a decorrelation time t(d) which is calculated explicitly in the different cases. Isichenko obtains expression of the diffusivities in different ranges of values of tau(C) compared to the characteristic time theta = L(K)(2)/2(chi//) in the collisional hydrodynamic case nu t(d) > 1, and to the time tau(K) = L(K)/V(T) in the kinetic or weakly collisional case.

Different behaviours are obtained for the omega-dependence of the effective diffusivity chi (eff) (omega) in presence of a time-dependent stochastic field, according to the value of the parameters np and gamma compared to unity. Such semi-qualitative results can be confirmed by more precise methods.
