Vegetation fire in continental Southeast Asia : Spatial and temporal distribution as monitored by AVHRR satellite data
The thermal channels of the NOAA AVHRR (advanced very high resolution radiometer) satellite were used to study the spatial and temporal distribution of active fires over continental Southeast Asia. Intensive fire activity is observed during the dry season although its timing and location varies considerably depending on local climate, habitat and land management practice.
