The objective of the research is to quantify the exposure of irradiated persons. This is studied using the relatively new method of fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) to analyse stable chromosomal damage in lymphocytes and assess its applicability for the determination of cumulative radiation dose. The assay is used on selected irradiated persons. A teaching/technology transfer primarily from west to east has been established. The work is realized in close collaboration with Experimental Collaboration Project 7 (ECP7). Results obtianed in this study, to date, are reported here.
