Abstract

The specific objectives of the study reported here were: to develop physical methods for individual dose assessment of the population evacuated from Pripjat and the settlements of the 30 km zone; to apply solid state methods for retrospective dose assessment; to calculate individual doses based on ground and good chain measurements and to determine the long life isotope 1-129 in soil samples to provide relevant input to retrospective dosimetry of the exposure of the thyroid to the short life iodine isotopes.
