In this paper, we report an investigation of the radiochemistry and labelling chemistries of Bi-213. The recovery of Bi-213 was optimal when a mixture of 0.1M HCl and HI were used as eluant, and the Bi-213 was found to be radiochemically pure. The Ac-225 cow yielded Bi-213 which gave a high specific activity mAb M195-CHXA DTPA product, which was limited by the amount of Ac-225 currently available. Preliminary cell-binding studies with In-111 show that this nuclide is taken up rapidly by cells. By comparison, cell-killing studies with Bi-212 show that Bi-212 labelled mAb M195-CHXA DTPA is most effected at high specific activity.
