Space: Future Markets
The Institute for Prospective Technological Studies (formely called PROMPT) is one of the eight Institutes of the Joint Research Centre, established in Ispra in 1989 to strengthen the Commission tools of prospective analysis in science and technology. This document belongs to a series of reports prepared during the period 1990/1994, corresponding to the Institute's first five years of existence providing technological reviews and advice to its clients in the Commission services. In 1994, with the adoption of the Fourth Framework Programme, the Institute received a new mandate and moved from Ispra to Sevilla. The summary note contains the following chapters: Authors and Consultants; Foreword; Definitons; Space policy at the end of the century and the importance of the strategy factor; A closer look at Space markets; Launchers and launch services; Need for a new Space policy; Annex (Components, equipments and Space products). The study is based on considerable reference research and on the contribution of experts.
