Abstract

A recent precipitate coalescence criterion for nickel-base superalloys is extended to allow the treatment of multiaxial stress states. Sets of maps are constructed in order to predict the thermodynamically most favourable coalescence morphologies over a wide range of stresses and temperatures. Applications of the criterion to experimental situations are briefly outlined.
