Abstract

Accurate reconstruction of toroidal magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) equilibria is essential for the study of tokamak plasmas, in particular for understanding their stability or the propagation of electromagnetic waves. For this purpose, a fast, accurate, and versatile equilibrium code is required, and this was the motivation for constructing the toroidal MHD equilibrium solver CHEASE. The code is now extensively used in many laboratories. This paper is a complete documentation of the current version of CHEASE, including several extensions from the early version.
