The Use of Non-human Primates as Laboratory Animals in Europe : Moving Toward the Zero Option
The need to reduce, refine and replace the use of nonhuman primates as laboratory animals is a high priority, since they tend to be maintained under conditions which are less than ideal, and they are often used for purposes which are of doubtful scientific merit. The supply of, and demand for, captive bred nonhuman primates is discussed.
