Defects and qualities of already adopted Ecolabels are analysed and possible improvements are discussed. Finally the role of the chemist in the study of Environmental Impact Assessment and Life Cycle Analysis, in the characterization of product groups and in producing industrial goods which satisfy Ecolabel requirements is described.
