Community Research and Development Information Service - CORDIS

The elements that make up the Innovation programme comprise the most successful and fruitful action lines from two previous EC programmes (Sprint, VALUE), together with a set of new measures, some experimental, designed to complement and reinforce these proven methods.
The overall aim of the programme is simple to understand but complex to achieve. It is to help European industry become more competitive by making the most of available technologies and techniques.
The Innovation programme uses a new systems approach to the promotion of innovation, which identifies three interdependent objectives: promotion of an environment favourable to innovation and the absorption of new technologies by enterprises; stimulation of a European open area for the diffusion of technologies and knowledge; supply of this area with appropriate technologies. .
