Abstract

The framework of the 'Phebus FP' in-pile experimental programme is the study of severe accidents in light water reactors. More precisely, this involves the study of both fuel and fission product behaviour: releases from the core, transport and retention in the primary circuit, and the chemical and physical behaviour in the containment building. The first (FPT 0) of the six planned tests was carried out with a trace-irradiated fuel. Irradiated fuel (20 to 30 Gxd/t will be used in the 5 other tests (FPT 1 to FPT 5).
