Activity of JRC EMEP Station
This report gives a general overview of air pollution monitoring at the cooperative programme for monitoring and evaluation of the long range transmission of air pollutants in Europe (EMEP) station of the Joint Research Centre (JRC) Ispra for the year 1995. SO(2), NO(2), O(3) and CO have been monitored routinely in air, SO(4), NO(3), NH(4), CI, SPM, acidity and heavy metals in atmospheric particulate material and SO(4), NO(3), NH(4), Cl, Na, K, Ca, Mg, pH, electrical conductivity and acidity in atmospheric precipitation. Data for the meteorological parameters, wind direction, wind speed, temperature, relative humidity, atmospheric pressure, precipitation and solar irradiation have been continuously collected. All data, forming a part of the required EMEP programme, have been transmitted tot he EMEP data evaluation laboratory of the Chemical Coordinating Centre (CCC) at the Norwegian Institute for Air Research (NILU), where they are used together with the data from all the participating countries of the EMEP programme to provide the background information necessary for the modelling of pollutant fluxes in Europe, elaborated by the Norwegian Meteorological Institute in Oslo and the Institute for Applied Geophysics in Moscow.
