Irradiation tests of the transmutation of the fission products technetium and iodine have been performed in the High Flux Reactor at Petten. Samples of technetium metal (Tc-99) and of three different metal iodides (cerium triiodide, sodium iodide and lead diiodide, containing the stable I-127 isotope) have been irradiated during eight reactor cycles (192.95 full power days). Post irradiation examination has been performed to measure the transmutation rate and to investigate the material behaviour during irradiation.
