This document introduces the proposed RESTPOR 96 conference to be held in Brussels, 19-21 September 1996. This Conference will be the third in a series of Global Conferences/Workshops and the first organized in Europe. RESTPOR'96 is used as an acronym for REgional Science and Technology POlicy Research. The value of this proposed conference will be to learn from comparative analysis of models of innovative regional systems and from specific examples of positive benefits from networks and co-ordinated strategies between business, universities, research institutes and the public authorities. A section of this conference will also be dedicated to the continuing development of appropriate methodologies. The conference will consist of: an opening session; eight parallel sessions followed by eight round table discussions; a closing session. In particular, it can be mentioned that round tables after each session will aim to bring together emerging issues and themes into a short summary which will be one of the outcomes of the overall conference. There is an opportunity for a small number of unsolicitated papers to be considered. This document gives details for submission of papers for consideration.
