Abstract

It has been shown that Oblique ECE can be used as an important tool for the study of electron distributions. Radially resolved measurements from optically thin superthermal electron distributions have been shown, giving Oblique ECE the potential to study the spatial transport of energetic electrons on fast MHD time scales or anomalous diffusion time scales. It has also been shown that the Doppler broadening of an oblique view can be used to detect small deviations from a maxwellian energy distribution.
