Abstract

The analysis of samples taken by safeguards inspectors for verification purposes can be carried out in different ways, various measurement techniques are available for carrying out these analyses. The different sample types arising from different categories of nuclear plants are presented. According to the material type and the analytical or the safeguards requirements, the measurement techniques have to be selected. A number of measurement techniques being applied for verification measurements are discussed. Giving the example of a laboratory having successfully performed safeguards analytical measurements, as well as some related development work, the verification sample analysis activities are illustrated.
