Anisotropic magnetic coupling in NP(x)U(1-x)Pd(2)Al(3), Np(x)U(1-x)Ru(2)Si(2)
We have performed (237)Np Mössbauer measurements on the solid solutions Np(x)U(1-x)Pd(2)Al(3) and Np(x)U(1-x)Ru(2)Si(2) (0.1 less than or equal to x less than or equal to 1.0). The electric hyperfine interactions display a weak x dependence. In Np(x)U(1-x)Pd(2)Al(3) the Néel temperature T(N) (and the Np moment m(Np)) decrease from 38 K (m(Np) equals 1.7 m(B)) at x equals 1.0 to 4 K (0.3 m(B)) at x equals 0.3 T(N) increases again up to 14 K at x equals 0.0. The collapse at x equals 0.3 is accompanied by a rotation of m(Np) out of the crystallographic c-axis. The moment m(U) (0.8 m(B)) of UPd(2)Al(3) is perpendicular to the c-axis. In Np(x)U(1-x)Ru(2)Si(2) the ordered moment m(ord) is parallel to the c-axis between x equals 0.0 and 1.0. Although m(ord) strongly differs between NpRu(2)Si(2)(1.5 m(B)) and URu(2)Si(2) (0.03 m(B)), m(Np) does not vary from x equals 1.0 to 0.1. T(N) decreases below x equals 0.5 from 25 K to 17.5 K.
