The main report is divided into three parts each consisting of a number of chapters.
Part 1 is the introduction. This part includes the first four chapters, containing a general introduction, an overview and discussion of the method used, estimates of how much dangerous goods is transported at sea, and a description of the accident data used for the study.
Part 2 describes the development of models. In chapters 5 to 7 the models for XTRIM are developed. They include anlayses of accident frequencies, release probabilities, modelling of release size and modelling of human and environmental consequences.
Part 3 covers the implementation and testing of models. In chapter 8 to 10 the models are implemented in XTRIM, case studies are done, the results are discussed, and conclusions are drawn.
Literature reviews are done within each chapter as a subsection. They are only short reviews and most of the results are presented in the analysis of specific elements within the chapters. The appendices contain additional information such as long tables, background data and calculation examples. es.
