Abstract

ITER activated materials are rated into different categories, according to criteria that consider materials disposal as radwaste, recycling, or clearance.
Recycling and clearance options are controlled respectively by checking the long term surface dose rate and with assessments of the potential hazard of the residual activity of the various radionuclides.
It turns out that only a small part of ITER materials has a radioactivity so high to practically prevent their recycling or clearance. .
