In the frame of a collaboration between CEA-Cadarache, CRPP-Lausanne, FZK-Karlsruhe and TTE-Vélizy, a 210 s - 0.5 MW -118 GHz gyrotron with a liquid nitrogen edge-cooled window was developed. The cavity mode is TE(22.6). An internal convertor transforms the TE(22.6) mode into a gaussian beam which couples through a matching optics unit into a 63.5 mm diameter evacuated corrugated waveguide. The prototype, presently under test, has delivered 450 kW into a load with pulses of 5 s. Power of 500 kW in 1 s pulses has also been obtained.
