Abstract

A comprehensive testing activity was conducted on a 4-storey full-size framed reinforced concrete building with different configurations of non-structural masonry infills. The building, designed according to Eurocode 8 as a ductility class High structure, was subjected pseudodynamically to an artificially generated accelerogram, first as a bare frame, and then with both a regular and highly irregular infill pattern. The main test results are presented and the performances of the structure with differing infill configurations are compared. A computer model was calibrated against the experimental results. A set of guidelines to calibrate the global models for both structural members and masonry infills was obtained. Finally, energy concepts were applied to the test results.
