Abstract

The STORM project (simplified tests on resuspension mechanisms) is based around a large-scale experimental facility built at the JRC and concentrates on the study of aerosol physics, mainly deposition and resuspension, under well-controlled conditions representative of a severe accidence in a nuclear power plant.
A number of tests have been performed on 63 mm internal diameter straight pipes with tin dioxide particles on both nitrogen and steam flows. In parallel, a new model for physical resuspension of aerosols is being developed.
