The influence of test parameters on the high temperature cyclic corrosion behaviour of materials
The potential of alloys and coatings to resist high temperature corrosion generally depends on their potential to form and maintain a protective oxide scale. In the presentation a critical survey will be made of the various test conditions employed. Some outcomes of the analysis of an ongoing questionnaire on test methods currently in use, which was circulated world-wide, will be discussed. Additionally, some results on the influence of various test parameters on the cyclic oxidation behaviour of materials will be presented. It will be indicated that significantly more work has to be performed in this context before guidelines in cyclic corrosion testing can be formulated.
