Abstract

To learn more about the U heavy-fermion superconductors Ube(13) and UPd(2)Al(3), a series of experiments on the Np analogues which have identical crystal structures have been performed. In the case of NpBe(13) with T(N)=4.9 K the ordering wavevector q=<1/3 0 0> gives information on where to search for possible magnetic correlations in UBe(13). In NpPd(2)Al(3) with T(N)=38 K we observe initially an incommensurate wavevector, but at 27 K a commensurate wavevector appears in addition. In both cases neutron experiments have been performed on polycrystalline samples and small (about 1 mg) single crystals.
