A sample of 28 EISs were analysed from ten out of twelve 1994 EU Member States. These 28 EISs cover 35 installations, as some plants include more than one installation.
The analysis of the EISs considered:
environmental factors considered in the assessment of each installation;
environmental indicators used in both the baseline survey and prediction of impacts;
methods used to predict the impact of the development on different environmental factors;
evaluation criteria used to assess the significance of predicted impacts;
uncertainty analysis methods used to deal with uncertainties in data;
the degree to which risk assessment is included in the EIS. e EIS.
