Community Research and Development Information Service - CORDIS

This brochure provides information on the programme for the Training and Mobility of Reseachers (TMR) which forms part of the Fourth Framework programme (1994-1998). TMR seeks to develop, both qualitatively and quantitatively, human resources in Europe in order to provide the Community with top-level scientific and technical personnel. To this end, the progamme has launched, mainly for the benefit of young researchers (aged 35 years or less), the following actions: research training networks, to promote training through research in high quality transnational research projects; access to large-scale facilities, in order to Europeanize large national research facilities; research training grants, to encourage young researchers to undertake part of their research training abroad; euroconferences, summer schools and practical training courses, to advance scientific dialogue and the training of young European researchers. It is a programme that is open to virtually all scientific disciplines. No priorities have been laid down between the disciplines. The selection of projects is based solely on scientific quality and the proposals' compliance with the objectives of the Fourth Framework programme. Consequently, the participants have a completely free hand in the choice of the subject matter for their project.
