Community Research and Development Information Service - CORDIS

The Panorama of European Union (EU) Industry provides companies and organizations with an overview of the current situation and trends for the future in the various industrial sectors. In addition, the opening section comprises analyses of topical issues affecting European industry, including: strategic alliances, the typical forms of transnational investment made by EU firms outside the EU, changing patterns of employment in industry, small and medium sized enterprises (SME) and employment, media services, and the export finance instruments available to the EU's capital goods industry. The results of these analyses, many of which are distilled from studies carried out on behalf of the European Commission, provide important insights on how the relevant public and private sector organizations might refine their operations and procedures. The introductory chapter has been substantially modified in order to better focus on the competitiveness issues facing EU manufacturing industry.
