Abstract

Hybrid photovoltaic (PV) components are building elements in which the integration of PV elements not only serves for electricity production, but where the heating-up of the elements is also used for other purposes. A standard scheme for the performance evaluation of hybrid PV building components is under development in order to narrow the gap between technology developers and building professionals, responsible for the application. Emphasis is given on procedures for the assessment of thermal and electrical performances of these elements but other aspects, such as maintenance and durability, air and water tightness, ventilation, daylighting, receive clear attention as well. These procedures include the assessment on component level, the interaction with the indoor climate in the test facility and the prediction of the performances when applied in a real building.
