Technology gaps & sustainable regional development : An exploratory study: Case of the agri-food sector in Andalucía, Ireland, South Brandenburg and Central Macedonia
This final report on technology gaps and sustainable regional development is divided into an introduction, four chapters and a conclusion. The introduction explains the rationale of the project. It includes a description of the design of the study, the methodology followed and the different activities carried out in the four phases. Chapter 1 concerns the individual regional background reports submitted by each of the regional experts. It identifies the main individual characteristics of each region, gives a transversal description and highlights the key similarities and differences. Chapter 2 looks at the main technological trends in the agrifood sector. Certain technology gaps can be identified between the more and less advanced countries. Chapter 3 lays out the set of sustainability criteria developed during the course of the study. Chapter 4 describes the results of the application of the criteria sets to projects within each of the regions. Following the assessment path as outlined in chapter 3, each of the regions were analysed at the micro, meso and macro levels. Based on findings of case studies, general conclusions have been drawn for each region.
