  • Libraries in the information society: Synopses of projects supported by the European Commission for the application of telematic systems in libraries

This is the fourth issue of the synopses of the European Commission's libraries programme under the third framework programme for Community research and technological development (RTD). The libraries programme is one of the seven distinct areas covered by the specific RTD telematic systems in areas of general interest initiative of 1991-94. The synopses cover 13 selected projects (numbered 1nnn) from the first call for proposals issued in July 1991, 16 projects (numbered 2nnn) resulting from the second call for proposals in October 1992, and 22 (numbered 3 nnn) from the third call in November 1993. In addition, there are three synopses covering concerted actions. The synopses are derived from the libraries work programme, as described in its technical background document. They are classified according to action line and themes. Action line I: computerised bibliographies, Parts 1 and 2; action line II: international connection of systems; action line III: provision of new library services using information and communication technologies; action line IV: stimulation of a European market in telematics products and services for libraries.
