This information package introduces the programme on Industrial and Materials Technologies (Brite/Euram III) which aims, through research and technological development, to boost European industrial competitiveness and promote sustainable economic growth whilst improving the quality of life. The main targets are: to stimulate technological innovation to contribute to the development of new and improved products, processes and systems of industrial organization; to promote the incorporation of new technologies and processes in traditional sectors as well as the emergence of new industrial activities; to promote multisectoral and multidisciplinary technologies of potential widespread application; and to promote scientific and technological cooperation and integration between European industry, research bodies and universities. The programme covers three technical areas: production technologies; materials and technologies for product innovation; and technologies for transport means (of which 50% for the aeronautics sector and 50% for surface transport). The priority research objectives are detailed in the Workprogramme document. The package includes an Expression of Interest Form.
