Third European workshop on Biosensors for environmental monitoringFunded under: FP4-ENV 2C
The workshop "Biosensors for Environmental Monitoring" was held in Florence (IT), February 16-18, 1995. The objective of the workshop was to present the state of European research activities supported under the EC Environment and Climate Programme (1995-1998) in the field of biosensor development and to identify priorities for future research and development to be implemented within the new Programme. Furthermore it was aimed at facilitating contacts among the scientists and identifying the appropriate partners from science and industry for future cooperation. The workshop also gave an overview of ongoing activities in Japan and of scientific work on biosensors in Central and Eastern Europe. The workshop involved some 100 biosensor scientists from 15 European countries and from Japan. 10 biosensor projects supported under the EC Environment Programme, dealing with pesticide detection, microbiological contamination and xenobiotics in water and air were presented. A delegation of scientists from Japan and invited speakers from industry interested in the application and manufacturing of biosensors attended the meeting in order to exchange information and to explore the meeting in order to exchange information and to explore the possibilities of future collaboration.
