Abstract

This COST Action 817 is the result of a Danish proposal [COST/202/93]. The Memorandum of Understanding was signed in 1993 by the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Hungary and United Kingdom. By the end of 1995, 7 additional countries have signed: France, Italy, Poland, Slovakia, Sweden, Switzerland and The Netherlands. The project aims at improving integrated strategies for use of host resistance genes and fungicides to control pathogens spread by wind throughout Europe and thus support European agriculture in its attempt to produce healthy and high quality cereal crops at a low input and in an environmentally safe way. The emphasis is put on the major pathogens, ie the powdery mildews and rusts of barley and wheat. This report gives details of actions and events taking place in 1995, including minutes of Management Committee meetings, reports from the Working Groups, publications, and reports from Short Term Scientific Missions.
